SHABBY CHIC SHAYNE

The light in our homes is just as important as the love in our bedroom’s. Ladies we all know lighting is the most important accessory in a home and if you didn’t know, now you do.

If you have any fluorescent, too bright or too harsh light bulbs lighting up your life it’s time to switch them out for more of a soft subtle light bulb.

Changing out the horrible bright bulbs will transform any room from a hospital cracky feeling to a warm relaxed one.

Always choose soft lighting for your home and especially in your vault and/or dressing room. The absolutely worst idea is to get dressed  with a horrible bright light which I like to call  the “cellulite light”. Ladies you know what I’m talking about. Hit the hardware store and get all new light bulbs in a warmer softer tone.  I always take my lighting seriously, it’s not classy if you don’t.

If your lighting situation needs a complete over-haul and the chandelier isn’t in the monthly budget just do a quick shade fix. And last but not least if Target isn’t hitting the lamp shade mark… opt for a more creative solution and make your own. I did.

What you will need:

old lamp shade

scissors to cut off the old fabric

glue gun- this should be in every ladies tool box

1/2 yard of fabric or trim to glue around the base of shade and bottom too give it that finished look.

1 yard fabric of choice to wrap around the lamp base itself. I chose cream tule.

I went with a shabby chic vintage vibe. Ladies always find your light, your face will love you for it.

It’s not classy to spell subtle wrong and then act pretentious. FYI lovely: “Being powerful is like being a Lady- If you have to tell people you are, you aren’t”. Words to live by. If you have to tell people you’re classy…

Pretty flowers. I think flowers are so important in your home. Xo

  5. Lovely job Shayne. Love your creativity.

It would be cool to see you do an arts and crafts show, a la Project Runway, and have contestants compete to see who makes the best shabby chic craft. It would give viewers great ideas and guidance on creative projects, and win contestants some money. I’d watch.

  6. Oh Shayne… *Subtle

This is very true! id reccomend a different choice fabric for the lamp. Also, as a lover of fashion, DIY and fabrics myself, you should read up on textiles. Youll be amazed at what you can learn. I had to take courses focusing specifically on fabrics, to get my degree. You’d be surprused at what you’ll learn!

Wow lol.. apologies for any mispells in my comment. There is no excuse for a few typos here and there. Amirite?

  12. Agree with “A”… nice try, but it looks horrible; like its covered in cobwebs or something. And I’m so over you acting like you are the queen of classiness. Get over yourself already.
    The flowers are gorgeous though.

i like the lamp shade, and i dont find that you come off pretentious. i think there needs to be more respect on this site. this is a personal blog and i find it rude that some people only comment to ridicule shayne. im just glad she posts, and if you people keep commenting negative things, youre gonna kill her spirit and make her not want to post things on here. act like ladies.. and if you dont have anything nice to say, then dont say anything at all. or at the very least, dont be condescending.

  15. Bloggers are taking time out of their day to share cute ideas with others. There is nothing more annoying than random idiots talking shit about a blog they’re visiting daily. If you don’t like her why do you come here??? Ridiculous.

  16. oh my gosh, I love this! Thanks for posting :) . So going to do this!

  17. I may actually use lace and then add embellishments :) like an antique stone or two! Thanks again! :)
