Shayne Lamas has revealed that she and husband Nik Richie plan to name their first child Press, EOnline.com is reporting.
“Her name came to us at the beginning of my pregnancy because she was getting so much press,” revealed Lamas, whose baby girl is due on November 11. “I think Press is a beautiful name, we’re elated, little princess Press!”
“It started as a joke, her nickname was ‘Press Baby,’ but when we found out it was a girl, suddenly that was her name – her name was going to be Press!”
Lorenzo Lamas’ daughter and her husband Richie, founder of racy website TheDirty.com, were married in Vegas in April 2010 after a seven-hour courtship.
In 2008, Shayne won the right to marry Matt Grant after getting the last rose in season 12 of The Bachelor. The made-for-TV hookup, however, didn’t last.
Despite Lamas and Richie rushing down the aisle so quickly, the couple are delighted to be expanding their family and have even signed their unborn child up with a talent management agency.
“Press has been getting so many offers, more offers than me or my husband have ever gotten,” Lamas told E! “People want to sign her and she’ not even born yet!”
While Press is already a client of Z Group, the proud mom-to-be said her birth – on 11-11-11 – won’t be a broadcast to the masses.
“I decided personally to keep her out of the whole reality world and keep the birth personal to me and my family,” said 25-year-old Shayne.
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Richie was originally hoping for a boy.
“If I have a girl I’ll probably never talk to the kid, probably file for divorce,” he joked when they announced they were expecting last April. “She’ll have an eating disorder by age two.”
But he is now equally as excited as his wife about their little diva-in-the-making. “My husband is biting his nails,” said Shayne, who is currently shooting a new reality project for the Oxygen channel.

What an original innovative name! A lot of girls being named boys name to be original, hich is so annoying. Peyton, Jordan, Jaden, Regan. All friends girl names.
I thought it was going to be some mystique Hollywood name, like Jacqueline, Josephine, Harlow, Bridgette, Sophia, Viv, Rue… A girl can dream, right?

I really like Shayne and Nik as a couple and was super excited for them when they announced the pregnancy. However, I don’t think this is a very good idea. I could understand if this was a prank to punk out the public but they seem serious. This doesn’t make me like them any less but it seems kind of selfish to their child and strange behavior for parents. I don’t really know what to think. I really hope it is just a joke.

At first I thought the name was stupid, but if it is really their daughters name I’m all for it. Her husband has stood by the right to freedom of the Press, so maybe this has a deeper meaning to them?! Everyone comes up with names that mean something to them, I mean my daughters names are Ranya and Lamees and EVERYONE made fun of me at first but the name just stuck! And wow Genevieve Im shocked!

I’ve said this before & I’ll say it again, if you like the meaning of a word so much, go get a tattoo of it, go get a painting of it & hang it on your wall… don’t name your kid a fucking WORD & not even a word that could ALMOST sound like a name (Haven, Honer, Sunday which are still stupid names but at least they sound a little more like names than fucking PRESS). This is just dumb, nothing cool or original about it, just flat out stupid.

I do like the name Jacquelyn, I may be a little partial though
However, although I don’t think I would ever name my child press, I like the deeper meaning behind it, it has its own story and that makes it unique. Not stupid at all Shayne. Can’t wait to see pics of the little one! Lots of love from Ohio! XO

Love the name Pressley, however Press, not so much. LOL I’m sorry Shayne, I’m a huge fan, but maybe the pregnancy is clouding your decisions. I know some pregnant women who regret how they decorated a nursery bc they were feeling a certain style for 9 months… I have a friend who’s naming her baby boy Preston, Pres for short and think it’s super cute. Love that you want your baby to have a unique name, but just think of the amount of insults and criticism Press will have growing up from other kids. I’m sure Hooman got a lot of crap too. Just saying!

I think Press is actually a cute, different name. Especially in the way your friend used it CLG! (Short for Preston). I think those names are so adorable. What turns me off is that she said the reason was not referenced to Nik’s freedom fight but because the baby ‘received so much press’. Um what world are you living in? I’ve heard very little about the Lamas-Richie baby in the media. Now Angelina Jolie, K. Holmes babies,etc. I could see how someone would say they received a lot of press. Although I could never see any of those ladies saying something so tacky and boastful. Please! That was just downright Heidi-And-Spencer desperation. Gross.
