Jessica Simpson is a Fashion Billionaire!

Source: Ology

Jessica Simpson’s fashion line is projected to hit $1 billion in retail sales in 2012. And now I finally understand why the world will be coming to an end. Those Mayans were spot on with their prediction.

Let’s put this all into perspective, shall we: Ms. Simpson brought in $750 million in sales last year. Michael Kors brought in roughly $750 million in sales last year. What the f*&% is happening?!

Jessica Simpson recently sat down with Women’s Wear Daily to discuss fashion and style, and here are a few highlights:

“I didn’t really know I was going to be able to take on the fashion world, but when I was given the opportunity to start a line of shoes, I jumped right on board. Vince Camuto is definitely a role model to me when it comes to making shoes. He just believed in me from ‘Newlyweds’ [her former MTV reality show that ran from August 2003 through March 2005]. He just thought I could relate to the everyday consumer, and that I had it in me to design and wear the product.”

“I really don’t look at myself as just one thing. I’m kind of scattered and like to have my hands in a lot of different projects. It makes me who I am. It’s what defines me. What I wear, what I sing, the songs I write, the projects I choose all have to represent Jessica Simpson. I wouldn’t take certain jobs if they were to take away from the positive role model that the Jessica Simpson Collection has allowed me to establish…because this is my number-one priority.”

“It has a lot of style to it. It’s not your average suit or skirt. It has lots of fun details. We wanted to change things up for the everyday working girl who wants to feel her age. It could be for a girl’s first job, or an internship. She could be in her 20s, 30s, even 40s. My mom would wear it, and she’s over 50.”

“Image is the most important thing about someone’s career and longevity. I want to be around until I’m not around anymore and then some. We’ve been doing this for five years, but it feels like we’re just starting out because there’s always something new to work on, some new endeavor.”

“I love dresses. I love short skirts and showing off my legs. Sometimes I have to try and hide the boobs. I love wearing a suit jacket with a pair of cutoff jean shorts, and a great fun necklace with a T-shirt. I’m pretty simple. My style never gets too complicated. I don’t always like to dress up. I like to have something dressy and mix it with something casual. If it’s sequins, I still think it can go with shorts. In L.A., you always need somewhat of a jacket. It’s chilly at night.”

“In all honesty, I think people really trust me. They trust that the product is going to be great, because they’ve given it a try and it hasn’t failed them. As far as how I’m different, I’m very real with who I am. I don’t take myself too seriously, and I’m very approachable. I want people who wear my clothes to say, ‘Yeah, this is Jessica,’ that I’m their friend and I have invested my time and my energy. I want everybody to feel like themselves in my clothes. I don’t know how other celebrities handle their businesses, but I’m very hands-on and I think you have that personal touch with me, and I think that outreach is very important.”

If Jessica Simpson is making more money than Michael Kors then Houston we have a problem. It amazes me how the world picks certain people to be icons who have zero experience or vision. I guess the term “who you know” means everything. More power to you Jessica! Work it girl and make sure your boy toy doesn’t spend all that “fashion” money. lol

If They Were To Write A Book On Fashion

Nicole Richie: I am a fan, but not going to lie she became popular for being 80pounds. No one gave her a glance before she was the rail thin Simple Life Princess as Paris was the skinny Queen. Should she write a book on Fashion: Nicole has great style of her own, but unfortunately it doesn’t look great on everyone. She has to widen her bohemian chic look to more of a trendy version for the masses.

Hillary Comrie: She bores me, not entertaining and has the same LA moron trendy style you see walking around in Studio City. Mrs. Comrie should prolly just retire and give Mike babies. Should she write a book on Fashion: Probably not, her style is boring like her brain.

Lauren Conrad: Also bores me, BUT I give her my respect because she had the ability to make the public think she knows about the fashion industry and made herself an icon in it. Should she write a book on Fashion: The girl who grew up at the beach wearing Havaianas and seven jeans with only 5-6 years under her belt in tinsel town shouldn’t be writing a book on fashion period.

Over Doing Your Style

Lady Ga Ga (blonde chop bang), Richard Simmons (workout 80′s gear), Simon Cowel (black tight T-shirt), Brad Pitt (aviator sunglass combat boot) and many others have their own personal flare. A look that has simply made their style recognizable.

On another note, I am all about adding the flare and making your wardrobe and style your own. Obviously I don’t shy away from doing so myself, BUT always make sure you’re not taking it overboard like this young famous lady does.

We get it, you’re a goth blonde Lucite Heels wearing rockstar- “let’s not go overboard with our flare”.

Is John Travolta For The Gays

[Star Magazine cover Oct. 11 issue]

Being in my world I hear the craziest stories about celebrities. Most of them I brush off because they are too far fetched for me to believe. This week I noticed Star Magazine totally crushed John Travolta and not only that he is gay, but also cheating on his pregnant wife with men.

The worst part about this was a good friend of mine who tends to A-List celebrities in Las Vegas not only told me about how John was gay and hooked up with dudes in Vegas, but his main lover was his co-pilot. Like most people would, I laughed and went about my business thinking no way.

My buddy told me this information over a year ago and I am shocked ready Star Magazine knowing what he told me was the round about truth. Now the question remains… is John gay? What do you think? I still don’t want to believe it.

I’ll Tell You What I Wannabe

Comment: Lilly: 2010/10/05 at 3:17 pm

I am really not trying to be mean to you Shayne, I am actually a fan, but you and Nik confuse the shit out of me! I’m sorry, but why is it ok with you for your husband to make so much fun of people with calling them z-list, d-list, has beens, making fun of their career going no where when look at what you are doing.. a teeny tiny little part in am indie movie. If you guys were not married, and he didn’t know you, he would make fun of your wannabe acting career, or anyone else in your shoes in a film like this! Why is he such a hypocrite!!! AHH!! It drives me nuts!

My Response:

Lilly let me make it very clear to you… There is No such thing as a wannabe Actor either you ARE or you Aren’t. Clearly you’re not educated to speak of films because you would realize every favorite movie that ever really interested you was bought at an Independent Film Festival. The actor chooses the role for character interest not the cash.

As for my Husband: who or what he talks about on The Dirty.com is just another form of entertainment, do you really think Jack Black goes home to his wife and continues to dance around, make weird noises and sports his Nacho Libre cape while she cooks dinner? Light bulb Lilly- turn it on.

I don’t think my website has much to offer you anymore and maybe you should stick to THE DIRTY.com for your waste of time, but Thank you for stopping by and I hope I cleared up your confusion.

P.S. The TINNY TINY PART-you described – HAPPENS TO BE THE LEAD ROLE OF THE FILM.

Styled By People

[People Magazine]

I might be contradicting myself when I say this, but hell it’s true… There are NO rules. What we wear, how we live in our homes, and how we live in our lives is up to us. There is NO RULE BOOK. We make the choices. We are our own Keepers. We have our instinct buttons to rely on and yes, we all make mistakes:

Everyone does, but who cares?

Live and Learn.

Better yet: live, learn and laugh.

We all need to laugh at ourselves every so often. So don’t be afraid to listen to your gut. Most of the time you will be happy with the result.
